Free Diagnostic Quiz: Learn the 3 Things Holding You Back From Healing!

Are You Listening to Your Body?

I continue to be amazed by the incredible powers of the body, and…at the same time, see so many people who are stuck because we’re not taught how to access them.

Every day in the ER there are people who are on medications to fix problems. They’re living in varying states of illness, low energy, depression, anxiety…and doctors are telling them this can’t be fixed. Well, I’m here to tell you that there’s so much more to the picture of how to reverse disease and create wellbeing!

We’re taught that to get a new result we need to DO something differently. It’s all about fixing the problem, staying in action and doing things. No wonder so many people are worn out! Yes, taking action for health is important, however, one of the most important skills I’ve learned for transforming the body is the ability to change how you listen.

Listening isn’t just about the ears. Your whole body is constantly “listening” to the world around you. There are billions of “bits” of information coming into your body in any moment, that are informing your cells and your brain. You can learn to listen in a new way, so that this information is filtered differently. You want to receive the types of information that heals your cells, and deflect the information that causes disease.

For example, many patients ask me “Doctor, what’s wrong with me?” but for chronic illness (especially anxiety, depression, weight gain and autoimmune illness) there is no clear answer of what’s “wrong.” We don’t, however, necessarily need to know what’s wrong, what we need to know is: What does your body need to heal this?

This question is going to bring you very different answers, and pattern your brain to pay attention to very different information.

What if you could learn to listen and get the answers to create a solution for any problem.

This isn’t something that some people can do and others can’t. This is an innate ability we all have….but for most, it’s dormant.

First Relax:
Your body has to be relaxed in order to receive information. As you learned in a previous post: The energy in your body creates!…and it creates all kinds of chaos and drama when you hold tension and old energy inside.

So, relax your shoulders, shake yourself out a bit, and let go of that tension.

Next Become Aware:

Bring your awareness into your body. Breathe slowly and keep your attention anchored onto what’s happening inside you. Feel your breath moving your chest and belly.

So often we’re thinking about what’s going on outside of us: what others are saying or thinking…what is going to happen or not happen…will we be okay?

Bring your attention down:
We have been trained to spend most of our time in our heads, trying to figure things out and know the answers. Let me ask you this: Do you have to know the answers? What if you could just release the difficulty and no longer have a challenge…would that be okay?

Get out of your head and bring your awareness down into your body. Feel your chest, then feel your belly, then feel your bum, feel your feet.

When to do it:
Do this while you’re with others. Use it while you’re in conversation. Pay attention to your body to listen. Ask: “How do I feel when he/she is speaking and saying that?”

This is valuable information, and you want to be aware of it. Let everything else go and honor what’s coming up inside you.

I guarantee this will revolutionize your life because you’ll have access to the information –and the solutions –you are looking for!

Be well!

  3. I have read your book and am taking notes on it now. I first heard you on this year’s Tapping Summit and immediately went to Amazon and bought your book.
I have been caring for my daughter Bree for 35 years this April 2, 2015. I was told she would be lucky to live to 5 yrs, have seizures that would take over her life even with medication, never interact or move. Well, she is medication free, almost 35 yrs, and creeps up on all fours around our home and pretty much runs the place.
Unfortunately in our Western Society we do not value special needs people because we consider them useless as Victor Frankl so beautifully says in “Man’s Search For Meaning” Hopefully, I can bring awareness to this and the struggle of parents of special needs children.
I have made some You Tube video’s, these last 6 months on cooking macrobiotic/raw for our children, an interview on Caregiving and a couple of stress techniques like tapping and TRE and a short video of our typical day.
Bree and I live in a one bedroom basement apartment. I barter cleaning the landlords house for most of the rent. I have a Disablilities Rights Lawyer dealing with an agency that wants to cut a stipend we buy our food with and a Pro Brono lawyer dealing with my daughter’s father who is also retiring and wanting to cut his responsibilities.
I am healthy for a normal 64 years and most people take me for late 40’to 50. Yet my anxiety is high. Achs and pains and panic. I have had 2 weekends off without my daughter in the last 25 years.
A mom like me is doing what is morally right and dignified yet we have to fight for services. Having us care for our children is the most financially viable solution yet we fight just to get by. I am drug free thanks to maintaining a macrobiotic/raw diet for the last 30+ years.
My challenge is anxiety, stress, panic, and aches/pains. Vitamin D3 level 76, blood work good, blood pressure excellent – last check up everything good.
I am listening closely to my self talk now and starting with I want to feel better instead of I am so tired of such and such.
If you want to confirm who I am just type in my name -Wendy Gilker on You tube and you will see us and see Bree.
Any suggestions on how I can zero in more on my self healing would be appreciated.
    Thank You
Wendy and my daughter thanks you too as she is counting on her Mom.

    • Wendy, Thank you deeply for sharing this with me.
I honor your struggle and your courage.
I am sorry you have had to struggle with your financial situation and receiving support.

Here are some things that will help you release the anxiety, AND open to receiving support and resources.
Find ways to relax your body and slow your breathing. You have been living in “survival mode” and even in moments where your needs are met, your body isn’t registering this, so cannot change from the survival pattern.
When you relax your body and slow your breathing, this doesn’t only make you feel better (although of course that’s a great benefit!) When you allow tension to leave your body and you take slow, deep breaths, this changes your chemistry, decreases stress hormones, AND changes your brain activity. All of these allow your body to develop greater vibrance and health, and also shift you into a new perspective.
Interestingly, when we’re in the “fight or flight” response of survival, we literally cannot see resources and opportunities that may be right before our eyes. We also shut down access to our wisdom and higher mind that could come up with creative solutions to our challenges. That means you stay in the same patterns over and over, creating the same reality and preventing change.
It sounds like you are ready for some change!
Another great practice to add to this would be to start a gratitude journal. This may be hard at first if you have lots of unmet pain. So begin by journaling all of your greatest challenges, struggles and fears. Then respond with a loving letter to yourself offering compassion and really seeing these pains. Honor yourself and see that you are an amazing and courageous warrior for having survived this and gone on.
Then you can begin with the gratitude journal. Write 20 things every morning and evening before bed (this is a more intensive prescription for you since you really need some big shifts fast!) and keep this journal for 30 days straight. You can also write love letters to yourself in this journal, offering yourself love and support.
This may sound strange, however, your brain does not know the difference between the real and the imagined. When you send this new communication, it registers in your brain and literally gives you the validation you need. The gratitude journal activates new pathways in your brain and with practice, the old, limited mindsets disintegrate. Those nerve pathways stop firing and you no longer take the actions and behaviors that were keeping you stuck. It’s very powerful!
      Hope that is supportive.
      Blessings,
      -Dr. Kim

  4. Undeniably believe that which you said. Your favorite justification seemed to be on the web the easiest thing to be aware of.
I say to you, I certainly get irked while
people think about worries that they plainly don’t know about.
You managed to hit the nail upon the top and defined out the whole thing without having side-effects
, people could take a signal. Will likely be back to get more.
    Thanks

  5. I’m really enjoying the theme/design of your website.
Do you ever run into any web browser compatibility problems?
A handful of my blog audience have complained about my site not
operating correctly in Explorer but looks great in Firefox.
Do you have any ideas to help fix this issue?

  7. Dr.Kim, thank you so much for your ministry. I first heard you on the tapping summit where you shared on tapping away anxiety. I felt an immediate connection with you and love your energy and spunkyness . 62 year old and was just divorced by my wife of 43 years. Been in recovery for a rape that happened at 8 years old. I bought the entire sumitt and am tapping through it but I really connect with you. Thank You so much for the access to your video’s.
